Dementia Care Awards 2018 – Finalist

We are very proud to announce that one of our residents Gary Taylor was a finalist in the Dementia Care Awards 2018 in the category: Exceptional Contribution by a Person/People Living with Dementia This award is made to a person, or group of people, living with dementia who lives and works with incredible passion and commitment to improving the lives and wellbeing of others living with dementia.   This award celebrates the many unsung heroes who, living with dementia themselves, contribute so much and inspire so many within the dementia community, Gary was nominated for his commitment to gardening work at Mary and Joseph House and volunteering in the community Gary attended the judging in London 12th October 2018 supported by his key worker Lorna and Therapeutic Worker Tom The Awards were created to celebrate the very best people in dementia care, culminating in a prestigious and glittering Gala Dinner on 8 November 2018, at the Hilton Brighton Metropole in Brighton

Rememberance Sunday 11/11/2018

At 11am on November 11, 1918, the deafening guns of the killing fields of France and Belgium fell silent. They had claimed more than enough lives.  The so-called Great War – in which an estimated 10 million military personnel were killed – was over. In commemoration to those who sacrificed their lives during the Great War – which came to an end 100 years ago, Mary and Joseph House residents and staff watched the services on the TV and all stood together for the two minute silence, everyone has there one story to tell and we are proud to show their respect to those that have fallen “We will remember them”                                                                    Residents created this Poppy Wall
