Here at Mary & Joseph we offer a wide variety of activities for residents to improve physical health, social networks and self-esteem. We believe that engaging in activities in the local community encourages social inclusivity and challenges addictive behaviour. Andy, our activities co-ordinator produces a weekly activities programme catering for a wide variety of interests. We have two vehicles on site, including a 12 seat Minibus with wheelchair access. The health and wellbeing of our residents is of paramount importance to us, we therefore offer financial assistance for health related activities, but strive to keep all activity away from the home at a minimum cost.
At present our activities programme includes a weekly visit to St.Marys Irish Community Club in Levenshulme, dog walking at Manchester Dogs Home, Library trips, swimming, bowling, fishing, weekly shopping trip, educational classes such as Information Technology, community gardening and conservation, walking football and local walks. We also work alongside Manchester City Councils Community Engagement Team and can help residents to set up an individual membership at a local gym.
We also organise a holiday for our residents and staff once a year, usually offering a choice of two destinations with pre-arranged activities and days out.
