    "I first came to work at Mary & Joseph House in December 1999. I have many years experience working with the elderly, people with learning disabilities and people with mental illness. I have an NVQ Level 4 in Health and Social Care and a Registered Managers Level 4 qualification.

    "My aim for our home is to provide outstanding quality care and support to gentlemen with mental illness and alcohol related brain damage and to ensure they experience a safe and caring environment to recover and live in. It is very rewarding to support people from all walks of life and backgrounds providing opportunities for our resident to reach their full potential. I am very proud and privileged to work with such wonderful residents and staff."

    "I came to Mary & Joseph House in November 2007 as a Trainer, and became Assistant Manager in April 2009. I hold an NVQ Level 4 in Health and Social Care. I feel very privileged to work here, working alongside some great characters (residents and staff). No two days are the same; I am a people person and enjoy learning new things.

    "I am the Infection Control Lead for the house. I carry out all the inductions for new staff and in house training, both mandatory and bespoke courses. My job is very rewarding, I love what I do and believe that my contribution helps to enhance the lives of the men who live at Mary & Joseph House."

    I joined Mary and Joseph House in February 2021 as Assistant Manager, it is a lovely and homely place to work, from the day i started everyone has been welcoming and always ready to support me.
    My years working in care - from care assistant to support worker in the community and then working in a care home as a senior care supervisor and then manager of a care home has made my job role in Mary and joseph House fitting, lovey residents at Mary and Joseph House, all the gentlemen are well cared for by all staff and their needs met to a high standard. It is a privilege to work at Mary and Joseph House

    I have worked at Mary and Joseph House since March 2018, I have never worked in a care home before and when I started at Mary and Joseph House everyone made me feel really comfortable. I felt like I started to fit in very quickly, all the training and support given to me made me feel at ease with my job role.
    I love coming to work because every day is different, working with these men closely every day makes me feel good that I can help them out even if its in a small way.

    On my days off I love spending time with my children, partner and going on family holidays

    "I have been working at Mary & Joseph House since May 2015. I have a Level 2 and 3 diploma is Health and Social Care, Level 2 Counselling Skills and Mental Health Assessment Training. In the past I have worked with families as a Support Worker and as a Mental Health Assessor. I feel my qualifications and experiences have enabled me to settle in quickly and gain the trust of our residents.
    I love working along side our residents, supporting and empowering them to keep their own space clean and tidy whilst promoting independence.

    Outside of Mary & Joseph House I enjoy going to the gym and spending time with my two girls.

    I have been working as a Care Worker at Mary and Joseph House since December 2021. I have over nine years experience working as a Senior in Care homes and I have NVQ Level 2 and 3 in Health and Social Care.
    Here at Mary and Joseph House I feel the focus on person centred care enables me to build a relationship with the residents and I leave my job everyday feeling satisfied with the work I do.

    Outside of work I spend my time keeping fit, watching classic horror movies and love travelling

I enjoy working at Mary and Joseph House as it enables me to make a positive impact on others and I leave work feeling proud of my work here.

    Outside of work I enjoy looking after animals such as my collection of tropical fish, tortoise and my dog, I also love travelling and spending time with my family and friends

Upon hearing the great things Mary & Joseph House have done for their men, I decided to make the switch. I have loved watching the men grow and thrive, and knowing I have been a part of that brings me a great sense of pride. The men here best know me for singing and getting stuck in with games and activities. In my spare time I enjoy socialising with friends and family and going on long walks.

I have a degree in psychology with counselling and psychotherapy and post-graduate certificate in person-centred therapy. I have worked in health care for five years and recently made the switch to Mary & Joseph House to use my skills to support the well-being and independence of the men here. In my spare time I spend time going on hikes and travelling.

    I have been a care worker at Mary and Joseph House since November 2015. I have NVQ 2 in Health and Social Care, my previous job was working in a nursing home for the elderly, I worked there for 12 years, I have over 16 years experience of working in the care sector but working at Mary and Joseph House has given me confidence in myself, the staff and management are a fantastic team, they encourage and praise you and are always there to help. The residents at the home are a great bunch of fellas, everyone is treated with dignity and respect by the staff, it makes the job we do easier, knowing we are making a difference in their lives.

    On my days off I enjoy going to the cinema or for a meal, I love looking after my grandchildren and spending time with my family

    I have worked here since March 2017, I have experience working with adults and young people with disabilities and also working in nursing homes with people with dementia. I have NVQ level 2 and 3 in Health and Social Care. I enjoy spending time with the residents, having banter with them and seeing them smile. Everyone who works at Mary and Joseph House are fantastic and very helpful, always full of smiles. I really enjoy my time at work and look forward to more many years to come.

    Outside work I enjoy spending time with my daughters, my grandchildren, my partner and 2 dogs, we enjoy going to our caravan. I have also recently joined a ladies darts team.

    I have a diploma in access to nursing and midwifery and have been working in the care sector since December 2018. I started working at Mary & Joseph House in August 2023. I love the job because it gives me a sense of fulfilment knowing full well that I have put a smile on a residents face. I like the synergy I get working with staff at Mary & Joseph House, it makes me feel at home. Support our residents sometimes feels like working in a family establishment. Mary & Joseph residents and staff are one of a kind and are fun to be around. I am blessed to be a part of this family.

    In my spare time I listen to music, have a walk around my neighbourhood, spend time with my kids and go window shopping.

    I have been in the Catering industry since leaving school over 20 years ago. I chose to work in care industry to do something meaningful, rather than just focus on my career. I’d like for our residents to have the best possible nutrition whilst enjoying the food as well according to their individual needs and preferences.

    I would like to make a difference for the residents and alongside the rest of the team help them to live to the best of their abilities.

I’m also here to help you find educational activities, where you can learn new skills or interests. Overall, I want you to enjoy a purposeful life with us, in whatever way suits you best.

    "I’ve been working at Mary & Joseph House since 2010. My background is based in Art and Art Psychotherapy however you’ll find that I can turn my hand to all sorts of things. And I also make a smashing cup of tea!"

    I have been at Mary and Joseph House since May 2017, I have NVQ Level 2 and 3 qualification in Carpentry and Joinery, my role is to work alongside the residents assisting them to be active and to try new skills involving woodwork and trying to build their confidence. My experience of working here over these last few months has been fantastic, residents and staff get the best support and training possible and it feels like we are all one big family. I enjoy coming to work, it gives me great satisfaction in seeing residents happy and active and feeling that we are making a difference in their lives. My hobbies include playing football and running my sons football team, I also enjoy a round of golf, these hobbies come into practice as we are hoping to start a walking football team here at Mary and Joseph House. This is by far the most satisfying job I have ever had, I feel privileged to be able to work with and help residents achieve a fulfilled life and I am looking forward to the many projects and activities we are planning

    I began working at Mary and Joseph House in December 2021, I have graduated in Interactive Arts and have previous experience working in community art positions in both the RNIB and Henshaw's, I also worked as a Community Support Worker after university.
    I really appreciate working alongside in collaboration with the residents to encourage creativity and I find it incredibly rewarding every day to see the impact the arts can have therapeutically.

    In my spare time I enjoy socialising with friends, going to the gym and rock climbing.

    "I have been working at Mary & Joseph House since July 2014 and used to work in the building trade as a carpenter. I used to have a problem with alcohol and was a resident here between 2010 and 2013. I was able to turn my life around and when I moved out I came back as a volunteer to give something back to the people that helped me. I recently became a member of staff doing garden and house maintenance.

    "While working I get to know the residents and sharing past experiences gives a lot of support to both of us. Being able to talk about these things with someone who understands helps with recovery and keeping problems in the past. Mary and Joseph House has certainly helped me and others to change my life in a positive and constructive way."

    I have been working at Mary & Joseph House since May 2015. I really enjoy my job working in partnership with residents to keep their living environment clean and tidy, i have recently been promoted to Housekeeper and I am also a Oral Health Champion, responsible for promoting oral health within the home, ensuring residents are supported to maintain and improve their oral health, making oral health a key part of the holistic care offered at the home, encouraging colleagues to support oral hygiene on a daily basis and responsible for the purchase, stock control and audit of toothpaste, toothbrushes, fixadent, steradent etc

    In the past I have dealt with issues around alcohol and mental health issues personal to my family. I feel like these experiences have helped me understand the gentlemen at Mary & Joseph House and support them in a way that's rewarding and beneficial.
    In my spare time I like to read and spend quality time with my two boys and my younger brother.

    I recently started working in the housekeeping department at Mary & Joseph House, it is completely different to my previous jobs as I have always worked in the Plant Hire industry. Everyone at Mary & Joseph House have been fantastic and very helpful including the residents.

    In my spare time I like watching most sports, I used to have a season ticket at Manchester United which I held for over 30 years, I also like taking my two French Bulldogs Ollie & Fergie for walks

    I worked at Optical Express for 6 years prior to joining Mary & Joseph House as part of the Housekeeping Support Team. I really enjoy it, everyone is lovely and the residents are so nice, they all make you feel welcome.

    In my spare time I like to go swimming and walking, I spend a lot of time with my family and friends and i enjoy meeting new people as well

    "I worked as a Care Worker at Mary & Joseph House since 2007, I was then a senior care worker for a couple of years. I have an NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care. In 2022 I decided I wanted to switch to the housekeeping support worker roll. I love trying to make a difference in resident’s everyday life and I enjoy working hard and playing hard on my days off.

    I have worked at Mary & Joseph House since 2012. I have always worked in housekeeping roles and really enjoy working here.

    In my spare time I like to do gardening. Over spring and summer I really enjoy gardening with the residents and spending one on one time with them. The garden areas always look so nice over summer and we are proud we can work alongside the residents to make it happen.
